2018 Ford Fusion Review

When you’re looking for a midsize sedan with a powerful engine, smart driver-assist systems and high-tech infotainment features for your drives around Canton and Hartville, the Ford Fusion is a great option. To give our Alliance area customers a better idea of what to expect when they test drive this sedan, our team created this 2018 Ford Fusion review.

2018 Ford Fusion Powertrain

The 2018 Fusion gives drivers the choice of four different engines, each offering a healthy kick of power:

  • 2.5L I-4: This standard engine produces 173 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.
  • 1.5L EcoBoost® I-4: This efficient engine generates 181 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. It comes with Auto Start/Stop technology that turns off the engine during long stops to preserve fuel and turns it back on when you hit the accelerator.
  • 2.0 EcoBoost® I-4: With this engine you’ll get an output of 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque.
  • 2.7L EcoBoost® V6: This sporty engine generates a powerful 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

All engines come equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Paddle shifters on the steering wheel are also available for operating in a limited manual mode when desired. While front-wheel drive is the standard, Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) is available for improved traction control. You’ll also reach an EPA-estimated fuel economy range of 17-23 mpg city and 26-34 mpg highway, depending on which engine and drivetrain your Fusion is equipped with.

Smart Sensing Systems

If you like knowing your car has your back, you’ll like the driver-assist features the 2018 Ford Fusion makes available. For example, you can wave a bumpy ride goodbye with the available Continuously Controlled Damping system that reads the road conditions every two milliseconds. When it detects a pothole, the system tells the front shocks to stiffen, decreasing the pothole’s impact on the car and passengers.

While that system watches for haggard roadways, available Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection looks out for unseen hazards on the road ahead. If something, or someone, is detected, this system will emit an audible alert and pre-charge the brakes to increase sensitivity and responsiveness when braking.

Ford Fusion Infotainment System

As you cruise down Route 62, you’ll probably be happy to have all your music easily accessible with the available SYNC® 3 infotainment system. This system uses Bluetooth® to connect your smartphone to stream what’s stored on your device. Or, you can use Sync Applink® to connect to your favorite apps like Spotify® or Pandora®. Go ahead and change the song or station with just a simple voice command.

Available Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ also allow you to talk to Google™ or Siri® to retrieve navigation information, make phone calls, read text messages and more. And, with available voice-activated navigation, you can input destinations without taking your hands off the wheel.
